#GivingTuesday2020 is a success!
The greater Nelson Community raised $1,020 through direct and campaign donations on GoFundMe over the past two days. The Rockfish Valley Foundation expresses it’s sincerest gratitude – as a result of your generosity, RVF will be able to provide the community with Spruce Creek Park and it’s Children’s Nature Trail, the Rockfish River Trails, the Natural History Center museum, and much more for years to come.
WHAT IS GIVING TUESDAY?
“GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world on December 1st, 2020 and every day.”
“It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.”

WHO WE ARE:
Rockfish Valley Foundation (RVF), founded in 2005, offers the following to the Nelson community free of charge:
- Rockfish Valley Trail System
- Spruce Creek Park, with it’s Children’s Nature Trail and Native Plant Walk
- Natural History Center
Our park includes six miles of trails along creeks and the Rockfish River where dogs can enjoy access to the water. Spruce Creek Park is the only public park in Nelson County. RVF also offers it’s Natural History Center which is a nature and education museum which is affiliated with the Virginia Museum of Natural History.
WHY GIVE TO RVF TODAY?
Rockfish Valley Foundation (RVF) has chosen this Giving Tuesday to ask for a special gift in addition to annual fund drive donations, for RVF has begun a strategic refresh to plan for its future. After 15 years, the founders of RVF have begun to transition their responsibilities and leadership to assure future sustainability.
Since its founding in 2005, RVF has grown from dream to reality as a community asset for Nelson County, VA. For 15 years, Betsy and Peter Agelasto have worked tirelessly with many super volunteers to introduce and expand its three facilities: the Rockfish Valley Trail system, Spruce Creek Park with its Children’s Nature Trail and the Natural History Center.
These facilities have proved an essential community asset during the uncertainties of COVID-19, as more families and kids have used RVF’s resources to experience nature in 2020 than ever before. With your support, RVF wishes to continue to grow our mission to preserve, protect, and share the land and natural history of the Rockfish Valley for years to come.
HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU GIVE?
In addition to RVF’s goal to reach future sustainability, your support is still needed to fund our programs and developments. While any sized contribution is greatly appreciated, the size donation of the donation will affect the extent to which our programs can be supported. With your support, we will continue to develop and expand our environmental education opportunities for underserved youth.
