Natural History Center closed until further notice; Rockfish trails and Spruce Creek Park remain open

The NHC’s opening date has been postponed from April 4th due to concerns about Covid-19 and public health. Please watch the highway sign at RVF and the RVF website for updates concerning museum opening. The Rockfish Valley Trails and Spruce Creek Park remain open for public use.

Spruce Creek Park is the only public park in Nelson. The park consists of 35 acres located at the intersection of Rt. 151 and Glenthorne Loop. It contains the Rockfish Valley Foundation Natural History Center and three trails: The Children’s Nature Trail, the Butterfly Trail, and the Birding Trail. The birding and butterfly trails are recognized by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Spruce Creek Park on DGIF Website
