The History of Moonshine in Virginia: Sunday, December, 8 2013

The Rockfish Valley Foundation and Rockfish Valley Community Center present the real stories of the world of moonshine in Virginia, from the history of shine in the last decades to the stories of the three distilleries currently under development in Nelson.  Dan McCullough, retired revenue agent, reminisces about his long relationship with Rufus Overstreet, a famed fruit brandy maker from Bedford. Both McCullough and Morris Stephenson of Roanoke, VA will relate the stories of Nelson, Floyd , Pittsylvania, Nelson and backwoods Virginia.  Jim Taggart and Jeff Fletcher (Woodsmill Distillery), Dan FitzHenry (Virginia Distillery) and Denver Riggleman (Silverback Spirits Distillery) will discuss their new distilleries, which together will add to the spirit of Nelson County.    There will also be some of our Nelson 151 breweries, wineries and cidery offering refreshments.
